About me

Welcome aboard everyone! My name is Matthew Holcomb, and I will be teaching seventh/eighth grade language arts this year. I am a second-year teacher, having graduated from Appalachian State University in 2017. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, watching movies, playing tennis, and hiking.

Classroom expectations

I expect students to come to class on time, prepared, and with a CAN-DO attitude. I emphasize the notion of having a can-do attitude, because it is crucial that students maintain a positive outlook on their education. I will never give up on a student's academic achievement, and in turn, expect them not to give up on themselves either.

Materials needed for class: a binder full of paper, and pens/pencils. If you use a pen, make sure it contains either blue or black ink. Colored pencils are a suggested item, but are not a necessity.

Let's have a great year at Starmount Middle!
