Welcome aboard everyone! My name is Matthew Holcomb, and I will be teaching seventh grade language arts this year. I am a Yadkin County native, as well as a recent App State graduate. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, watching movies, playing tennis, and hiking. I am excited to begin what I am sure will be a rewarding career as a teacher!
This year, we will explore themes in literature such as independence/identity, making the right decision, and facing challenges. In our writing/grammar studies, we will cover parts of speech, phrases/clauses, different sentence structures, and study various writing styles.
It is my goal to create a classroom environment that is both conducive to quality learning, and fun for students as well as myself. I believe that every student has a chance to be successful in their academic careers, and should be held to high expectations. Overall, I just want each student to be the best that they can be.
The best time to contact me is Monday-Friday from 8:10-9:06. I can be reached by phone at (336) 468-6833 ext. 215.
