Welcome! My name is Jensen Pendry and Yadkin County has been my home for my entire life. This will be my second year teaching in the self-contained classroom at Starmount Middle School. I graduated from Appalachian State University in May of 2016 with a degree in Special Education: Adapted Curriculum (K-12). I am currently obtaining my master's degree in Special Education from Ball State University.
What you should expect to see:
When entering our classroom, you should expect to see students actively engaged in their learning. Our classroom is an inviting environment in which students often enjoy spending time. We spend most of our day moving around the classroom, taking part in hands-on activities. Some activities that are a part of our daily routine include: morning work, morning calendar, math groups, reading groups, Kahoot, centers, writing journals, free choice, PE, art, music, and whole group instruction.
Our students are expected to respect one another, share with one another, and appreciate one another. Each student learns at their own pace, and in our classroom we respect that. We are each other's biggest fans. We celebrate the small victories and encourage each other through our daily struggles. Our main goal is that each student leaves each day with a smile on their face and a sense of pride in their heart, knowing that they can accomplish anything they set their mind to.
Why fit in when you were
born to stand out?
