Enter your text here...I graduated from Starmount High School in 1995.  After that I attended Wingate University and played baseball there for four years.  I graduated from Wingate in 2000 and came back home to Yadkin county and started my teaching career in the fall of 2000.  I taught 7th and 8th grade Health and PE and coached baseball at Fall Creek for eight years.  I also coached basketball three years and volleyball for two.
I then spent two years as the adaptive PE teacher in the county and got to travel and work at many different schools.  During those two years I was the JV baseball coach at Starmount High.
After that I got a PE job at teaching PE at Forbush Middle for two years.  There I worked with both the baseball team and the golf team as an assistant coach.
I have spent the last five years here at Starmount Middle as a PE teacher and the baseball coach. I try to make PE class at SMS a fun, safe, and enjoyable place for the kids to exercise and learn the importance of physical fitness.  Throughout the year we will play a variety of games and activities.  All students will also participate in the physical fitness test.  There PE grade is based on participation and effort.  They must dress out in appropriate PE attire in order to play each day.  This would be shorts, (jogging pants or workout pants are fine in the winter when the gym may be cooler) , T-shirt or sweatshirt, and Tennis Shoes. They will have five mins. before and after class to change clothes in the locker rooms. If students are not dressed out for PE they will be given an alternate assignment to work on during class. Five points will be taken from their grade for not dressing out and not participating that day.  If students have a doctors note stating they are sick or injured they will not lose any points from their grade if they don't dress out or participate that day.  A parent note saying you're child is sick or injured will be accepted as an excuse not to participate only one time a semester.
Participation is the most important part of my PE class.  I want all kids running, playing, exercising, and having fun each day.  They cant get the benefits of exercising if they're not participating.  Proper PE attire helps them feel more comfortable and makes it safer while they are being active in a gym full of kids.
