"We must not see any person as an abstraction.
Instead, we must see in every person a universe with its own secrets,
with its own treasures, with its own sources of anguish,
and with some measure of triumph."
-- Elie Wiesel
Welcome! My name is Ben Gentry, and I am the 7th/8th grade Social Studies teacher serving my fifth year here at Starmount Middle School. In my classes, students are expected to gain a greater understanding and deeper appreciation of World/U.S. History and Geography through activities geared toward specific study units we developed county-wide for our Middle School Social Studies courses. My ultimate goal is to engage all students in a rigorous, authentic, student-centered learning environment that fosters social understanding and civic efficacy in our multicultural, national, and global societies.
In my class we are...
Learning new things everyday
Everyone works together
Always prepared for class
Doing our very best
Encouraging and helpful
Respectful to others
