Hello, I am Giny Haynes and this is my fifth year working at Starmount Middle School. I have taught for a total of twelve years and have had the opportunity to work in many different grade levels. However, Middle School is proving to be the most fun and rewarding for me! I have three sons, Logan, Seth and Jake, and a Golden Retriever named Aja. I enjoy traveling, hiking, reading and spending time with my family and friends.
I work with 7th and 8th grade students who benefit from specially designed instruction in various academic, social, and/or behavioral targeted areas of need. I co-teach with Matthew Holcomb in a 7th and 8th grade English Language Arts class, providing individualized, small group, and/or whole group instruction. I also provide individualized and small group specialized instruction, in my classroom to students who have IEPs. In my classroom, students will participate in small group reading programs that are designed to promote reading accuracy (decoding), reading fluency and reading comprehension. My goal is to help my students to improve their reading and writing skills in order to become successful, life-long learners.
I have high expectations. I want my students to come prepared to learn something new each and every day. I want them to display a positive attitude and to understand that difficult tasks require perseverance and hard work. I want them to always respect others, as well as themselves. I want them to discover their individual talents, set goals and develop the confidence to accomplish great things. I want them to know that I am here to support them and that I believe in their success.
I am looking forward to a great year!
